Mucktaru Kargbo is a high profile barber who has won a string of awards:
- UK Battle of the Barber’s: first barbershop to win 1st & 2nd place consecutively, 98 & 99
- UK Black Beauty Awards: 7 times finalist and Barber of the year WINNER in 98
- Barbers Brawl 2004: First heat, beating over fifteen other barbers from around the UK
- Battle of the Barber 2006: WINNER

He set up his Tottenham based barbering salon, MKHSA Hair Studio & Academy, in 2003.  The salon caters for both Afro and European hair and specialises in classic modern cuts including pictorial design and hair tattooing.   

A year later he spotted a gap in the market to provide professional training for barbers.  Mucktaru didn’t hesitate to contact Chrystelle again to set up a brand new company, Mass Kuts Ltd. 

Chrystelle coached him in effective negotiation methods, how to organise and set-up systems for the business and helped him create a brand image to strengthen his marketing. Chrystelle instilled Mucktaru’s confidence in his own business and financial management systems by helping him to think issues through himself and come up with potential solutions that he can assess for effectiveness.

Mass Kuts now offers a range of new barbering and African hair art courses.  Mucktaru has successfully secured sponsorship from an American clipper company and is working with Habia, an organisation developing NVQs in barbering, to develop their course content, represent them at shows and train their students.  

He has also appeared on Channel 5’s ‘Trust me, I’m a Beauty Therapist’, training celebrities in the fine craft of barbering.
