A Holistic Approach to Business "Total Healthcare would never have been able to obtain this kind of funding without the support from Enterprise Enfield. Total Healthcare Adviser, Chrystelle Benkhelil, has put in a tremendous amount of work to secure this funding and has backed us all the way, helping us achieve my goals. This is an incredibly exciting time for us – we still have a lot of hard work to do implementing the Business Plan and putting into place the healthcare support systems for the Enfield Community. But we are indebted to our Adviser and all her support– without which none of this would have been possible.” Rita Melifonwu, Total Healthcare Groups CIC Rita Melifonwu set-up Total Healthcare in 2000, following her Department of Health Mary Seacole Nursing Leadership Award in 1999. The company is one of the first Community Interest Company. Total Healthcare is a practitioner-led service providing 'first contact healthcare'. Its services are designed to offer users and their carers a holistic approach, providing advice, information, prevention, rehabilitation, daycare support and self-management skills. Chrystelle assisted Rita with her business plan and the application to Future Builders. The work carried out was difficult due to the complex legal structure of the company, its technical service and lack of experience in costing services and track record as a company or putting forward such applications. Rita was able to secure a £42,700 grant and a £48,000 loan from Future Builder’s England as well as obtaining a £10,000 Fast Forward grant. Chrystelle also assisted her marketing strategy, branding and the development of her website, on time for publication in an article published in the Guardian, generating awareness of Total Healthcare’s services at a regional level. Rita has just won the 2006 RSA Trust/EEA Award - Social Enterprise of the Year.
